How to Write a Quick Cover Letter

The importance of the cover letter cannot be ignored for the simple reason of it being crucial for the job application process. The main objective behind the cover letter is to set the background for the resume and explain, but only briefly, your qualifications and experience or skill. Some people say that writing a good cover letter takes time. However, I do not agree with that and think that there are plenty of ways through which you can write a very effective cover letter quickly.

It often happens that you see a job somewhere and you have to apply to it right. Then, how are you supposed to do that if you need to take a day or two to write the cover letter? Will you lose the opportunity just because of this one tiny glitch? No, in this situation, you need to learn how to write a quick cover letter, and that is exactly what I am going to help you with.

I. Writing a quick cover letter doesn’t mean you need to skip the important sections like the address. Always remember to write down your name and address along with the employer’s name that you are sending the cover letter to. Be sure to write down your correct address, contact information and any other details the company might need.

II. Remember, when sending out the cover letter, you need to address the person you are sending by name. If in case you do not know where your resume is going, you can always call up the company and ask for their help. But if that is not an option either then it is always okay to address the person as Ms. /Mr.

III. The first prerequisite of a cover letter is to name the position that you are applying for. Another thing that is still a bit controversial is if you include the source through which you came to know about the company and their opening position.

IV. Because you are writing a quick cover letter, you need to manage and plan everything. Don’t just start off writing and think of your skills and qualifications then. But instead before you begin the actual writing, write down whatever you can remember and cross out the things which you don’t think are going to help you land with the job.

V. The cover letter in itself isn’t a very lengthy letter and so you need to request for an interview just as soon as you have listed your skills and experience.

VI. Close your quick cover letter with a sincerely yours or some other form or formal signing off and you are done before you even started!
